ABOUT THE ROLE
We**Apply on the website**;re currently looking to recruit a RD&A
SCIENTIST to join our Kerry team in NAAS IRELAND.
The RD&A Scientist will understand key technical requirements of the
Food and Nutrition industries, conduct Laboratory and Pilot Plant
trials for the timely development of new products and manufacturing
procedures. Whilst developing robust recipes, processes and
application stability based on a thorough understanding of food
product design and the fundamental physical and chemical interactions
occurring in food products. The RD&A Scientist will work closely with
other functions such as the Business Development, Operations, Sales,
Marketing, EUM and Regulatory teams to develop integrated, innovative
and market relevant solutions and also to help troubleshoot production
problems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Develops and refines analytical methodology as required.
* Participates in designated RD&A projects and ensures appropriate
documentation of experimental trials and outcomes to facilitate scale
up and product transfer to manufacturing.
* Ensures that ingredient functionality and specifications will meet
customer expectations in application.
* Oversees end product application trials to support new developments
and sales/customer presentations.
* Keeps up to date on scientific developments and best practice
requirements.
* Responsible for new product development from the laboratory to
pilot plant and ultimately to scale up at the factory.
* Works with customers and suppliers to develop innovative solutions
and resolve technical problems leading to the formation of strong
technical relationships.
* Give competent presentations to inform customers, the sales team
and industry contacts.
* Development of strong application knowledge within relevant food
categories.
* Works with Regulatory to ensure new developments meet legislation
requirements in the regional or global markets where sales are
expected, including any special criteria such as infant nutrition,
organic, allergen, contaminants, and GM requirements.
* Ensures that good laboratory practices and lab protocols are being
utilised.
* Documents all research notes in Laboratory notebooks and computer
databases and records and disseminates key learnings.
* Manages Key projects through Salesforce.com
* Builds scientific knowledge through interactions with other RD&A
managers and Directors.
* Reviews scientific literature and patents to guide thinking on
specific projects.
* Attends relevant trade shows, conferences, scientific meetings as
necessary.
_QUALIFICATIONS_ and skills
* Honours BSc.
* Postgraduate Qualification in Food Technology, Food Science or
Protein Chemistry desirable.
* Experience in food laboratory practice, pilot plant operation and
food processing technology with particular emphasis on industrial food
processing techniques.
* Basic knowledge of Nutritional Science, Sensory Evaluation and Food
Formulation is desirable.
* Experience in Protein technology is desirable.
* Experience in evaluation of ingredients in food applications is
desirable.

_ABILITY TO_ ensure samples are successfully produced in the
laboratory or pilot plant daily.
* Strong innovation skills to develop novel solutions and create

* Strong analytical skills for proteins and food characterisation are
